The idea of the Film Museum Of Iran was seriously put forward in August
1994 . The task of gathering documents , picture , equipment and other
remaining manifestations and memorabilia of Iranian cinema started when
an old building in down town Tehran was put at the disposal of the
museum , the gathering of such a collection , whose variety extent at
times amazed even the original founders and staff of the museum , was a
hard , long and tortuous procedure . while some people welcome the idea
and generously made available to the museum their archives and
memorabilia , there were other from whom the museum staff had to receive
historical items by sheer perseverance and even the support of
influential people . the enthusiasm and motivation generated by the
large collection of memorabilia of the Iranian cinema , produced a
hopeful and optimistic attitude and led to the creation of the museum
much earlier than had been anticipated . the first stage at the museum
was officially inaugurated in the presence of the vice – president at
the previous head quarters of the museum in downtown in Tehran in June
1998.
But the museum did not achieve the level of expected operation and
dynamism , and came practically to a halt . the realization of the dream
of creating the film museum came about when it was moved . after some
delay to its present residence in Bagh- e – Ferdows with the support of
the ministry of culture and Islamic Guidance , especially the deputy
minister for film Affairs , the Cultural Heritage
